Max: I'm pretty sure Prescott wrote this
from a true experience. He'll correct me if I'm wrong.
Prescott: Similar experience. it was a
plantain, and it was to escalate the relationship to 3rd base.
Jon, did we think of this sketch idea together? It's in my notes
near the vampire with AIDS idea.
Banana came to fruition with the
thought that convincing a banana to be eaten has a lot of parallels
with the stereotypical pleadings a guy must go through to get laid.
Why a banana? I don't know, because I personally hate bananas
unless they are sautéed in a frying pan with rum and lemon juice and
butter and brown sugar (not maple sugar as is falsely stated in the
sketch). I do know that the banana absolutely had to be voiced by
Jon (the current voice of the banana), so we locked him up before I
even signed on to the project. I'm very pleased with the structure
of the sketch. It has the most natural gradual rise to climax, then
denouement, then button that I've ever written.
Brett: In order to translate the aforementioned depth and
craft of Prescott's writing, I made sure to keep the working
environment on set
as professional
as possible.
Max: Bananas are delicious.
Jon: You thought of it during that night where
we went to parties while thinking of sketch ideas, however I can't
say that I contributed anything meaningful to the idea, but oh what
a night of great ideas. Humorously, we tried to think of ideas
together and we both just thought of ideas on our own that we wrote
by ourselves.
Brett: I also want to point
out two more things: 1) Prescott yanked the banana away at such an
extremely unsafe speed it's a miracle that nothing broke and, 2) I
am still trying to figure out what the girl's equivalent of a
"sticker" is when I carry the metaphor through.
Dan: Remember how hot it was that day? Man, it was hot.
Max: Once again, Dan has given our 3 viewers
the quality insight into our work that they deserve.
Prescott: I would equate the "sticker" to the
female "hymen" which I am told is located somewhere on a girl and
can be peeled off before sex. Jon, what other ideas did we come up
with separately? remember the horrendous cow sketch where the kobe
beef cows were the cool cows? Also, I recall the shooting of the
sketch being held up due to a classic skateboarding movie being on.
Dan: Oh yeah! Rollerblading though. A
classic. Remember how rad that movie was? Man, it was rad.
Max: I don't know if we do this sort of thing,
but I would like to dedicate my performance in Peelings to Shane
McDermott who starred as Mitchell Goosen in Airborne in
1993. Shane -- this one's for you, pal!
